Question 7 Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Below is a video to the question it is 3 out 4 group members Me Shannon and Luke answering the question. We didn't write a script we just answered it on what we have learnt in the progression from it.
Question 4&5 Who would be the audience for your media product? AND How did you attract/address your audience?
Before we interviewed the teachers about our response I wrote down a set of question for the audience to answer. Below are the set of questions which were asked.
My group filmed the whole show case where the other films made by other people in my year were shown.
This is the booklet that was made for our media showcase, it shows the characters starring in it and the synopsis for our film.
Below is a video of the audience response to our film Sharp White
Question 3 What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
In our group we had a group discussion and we all decided that we were going to use the same film certificate as the strangers.
For advertising our film we will use social networking sites such as, Facebook, You tube and Twitter to try and promote it. These social networking sites are good for advertising out film 'Sharp White' because millions of people use these websites every single day. Using these websites will promote our film because people can share the film 'Sharp White' and show there friends. We can tweet about our film, post a status on Facebook and share the video on You Tube and also create adverts on the side and on the start of videos.I feel that these will be the best way to address the target audience of teenagers.

Below is a photo of a picture of a blog I made on tumblr to advertise our film Sharp White. I reblogged pictures of the strangers and put our film on there as well from youtube to advertise the film in different ways. Loads of people use tumblr everyday all around the world, it is a good way to advertise the film.
Below is a picture off Facebook of me sharing our film to my friends on Facebook
We had produced a dvd cover for our film sharp white that we would use to market and distribute our film.
Question 1 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Effect

Scene
|
Evidence
| |
Use of narrative
|
This scene opens with a dead girl on laying the floor with blood on her head and splattered across the floor. This connotes that the genre of the film is a thriller/ horror. This will make the audience want to find out more and what happened in the scene. In the first seconds of the film we blood which connotes that it has been a murder.
| ||
Mise- En- Scene
|
For our film we used fast jump cuts on the crime scene with splattered blood and over the open wound which creates tension. Another thing which also connotes a murder are the sound of the camera and cards on the floor.
| ||
Editing Techniques
|
In our film we used a few different types editing techniques. The 999 call is the one which is the most noticeable in the film Sharp White.
| ||
Use of Camera
|
We used a vary amount of shots, shots which were used were long shot, close up, mid shot, over the shoulder shot and a wide shot. Some of these shots connote bullying as there are three strangers starring at one girl which makes her vulnerable.
| ||
Special Effects
|
Special features which were used were the title of the film, the people starring in it titles and also a change of colour on the jump cuts over the wound on the head of the dead body.

Comparrison to The strangers
For our film we got the ideas from The Strangers. We liked the idea of the white masks and the unknown killers. We used these ideas in our film 'Sharp White'
This scene is from the film the strangers this scene is very similar to our film as there a stranger staring over in the distance as our film has a bullying aspect to it the strangers has a like ghostly aspect because it's only one in the room and in the corner.
This scene has been taken from our film sharp white as see the three masked strangers in the background, it's like the bird going for it's prey.
This scene is also taken from our film Sharp White, it is also very similar to the photo up the top which was taken from The Strangers. In the strangers photo there is a masked stranger standing in the corner peering over and in sharp white the masked stranger is peering over the victims shoulder whilst the victim is looking in the mirror.

I did a little bit of research on film titles before we decided what our would be like
Most film titles are the same in the way the lettering is arranges and how it is put together. Most thriller film titles have either white lettering or red lettering, they usually have dark or light backgrounds to add effect. I found these pictures of existing film titles, I looked at these titles because they are very similar to our film 'Sharp
White'.
Below is the fonts we tried out before deciding what one we were going to use for our film. These fonts are from dafont.com, I found this website very useful to createlettering

Preparing Filming for Sharp White
Preparing Filming for Sharp White
Preparing Filming for Sharp White
We had a lot of preparing to do before we started filming it took time but in the end we did it.
Storyboards- We had to create a storyboard that was relevant to our chosen genre, we would then use this storyboard step by step to film Sharp White.
Script- We had to create a script so we knew what was going to be said. The movie was basically silent but there was an emergency phone call at the beginning, so that was scripted.
Location- We all had to agree with a suitable location to film Sharp White, after a group discussion we all agreed we would film at Jasmines house as it was a suitable location.
Props- We had to find 3 masks for our film, after an hour of asking around the school we finally come across three masks in the Drama Department, we asked if we could borrow them for filming and the answer was yes so we could tick the box for props.
We also needed scar wax (to create a real looking, fresh and deep scar!) and fake blood...Jasmine sorted this out and ordered it online and it was worth it as it looked brilliant and very realistic!
When we would film- We all had to agree on what days we would film Sharp White. After a small group discussion we came to a conclusion...we would film for several hours within a two day period and thats all the time we needed.

Production Companies
Working Title
I have researched a film production company called 'Working Title Films'. Working Title are a British film production company who are situated in London.Working Title were established by Tim Bevan and Sarah Radclyffe in 1984. They are now one of the biggest British comapany in the world. Working Title have made many films they have made films such as Bridget Jones's Diaries, Nanny Mcphee, Paul,Notting Hill, Les Misérables, Shaun of the dead, Love actually and many more.
Columbia Pictures
I looked at another production company called Columbia Pictures. Columbia Pictures is a American Production company It was originally called C.B.C. Film Sales in 1918 then it was renamed Columbia Pictures 1924.
These are some of the films which were released in 2012 by Columbia Pictures.
20th Century Fox
Why opening title are important in the film industry
The main opening title is considered the most important part of the film. The title of an opening sequence of a film is very important because it's the first scene is where you grab the viewers attention and interests them by the opening scene. The opening scene is what the viewers sees first, they then have expectations for the rest of the film, the first impression of what you see in the opening title is very important.
A good opening sequence will make viewers want to watch more of the film. The average opening sequence last 2 to 3 minutes, in those 2 to 3 minutes is where the viewers see the intentions made by the filmmaker.
Trailers are also important when advertising a film because if you see a trailer of a film that will also decide if you want to go and see it or not debating on whether it grabs your attention.
Another important element of why the opening title are important in the film industry are that they tell you who directed it and also which actors are starring in it, this is a good way to grab the audiences attention as there favourite actor may be starring in the film, and it will want them to go and watch it more.

Editing Sharp White
Editing our film 'Sharp White' we used i movie as a group we all contributed to the editing but shannon did most of the editing as she knew how to use and work imovie. It was my first time using i movie and I had never done any editing before so it was quite tricky getting the hang of it. Shannon completed the open sequence. I contributed to the editing by putting a blur effect of the three strangers.
We used sound effects in our film we used a heart beat sound effect. We decided to use a heart beat sound effect because it built up tension within the film.

Another sound effect we used was 'Rain Heavy Thunder' this was used because it was raining
