Textual Analysis

In the lesson today we learnt how to fully analysed still image. I went of google and typed in the 'The Ring' and I found a picture of a girl climbing out a well which was a creepy picture for my textual analysis.

I analysed this image by answering the following questions;

- What colours are being used? What emotions do they convey?

- Which are the most important elements of this image? How can you tell?

- How is light being used? What atmosphere does this create?

-Who is being shown in the still?

- How are they being represented?

- What relationship is created between people in the still?

- What background is behind the character? What does this tell us about the film?

- What are the actors wearing? What expectations of their character does this suggest to us?

- Who might watch this film?

- Are these typical elements of a film of this type? (codes and conventions?)

- What type (i.e. genre) would you say this film is? How can you tell?

I answered all the questions for my textual analysis on 'The Ring'.

In this image from The Ring has dark and dim colours, this is very normal it is for convention as thriller are normally in dark colours which represents horror and scariness. the image of the girl coming out of the well e

Sharp White

Our film will be called, 'Sharp White'. As a group we have decided that our film will be along the lines as the film 'The strangers' but with one victim, not two.
The plot for our film is; A young girl returns home from college, carrying her work. She's struggling with the front door keys, when she finally opens the door she remembers that she has left something behind. She then makes her way back to the car, leaving the front door open, un-knowing that there is a visitor making its way into her home. When she then re-enters her home, she locks the door behind her, un-aware that she is not alone. The masked stranger, then makes its way to the back door and welcomes in two accomplishes. The victim can feel the presence, but doesn't see them.

You will never know who they are, or why they are there. Maybe they got bored?or maybe its revenge, we will never know the true story behind the un wanted visit.
